New Jersey DWI Laws

In New Jersey, DWI is classified as a motor vehicle violation rather than as a criminal offense. However, it is still illegal to operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 or higher. People under the age of 21, according to the New Jersey law, are not allowed to operate a vehicle with a BAC of 0.01 or greater. Adults with commercial driver’s licenses are not allowed to operate a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.04 or more.

New Jersey DWI laws are very specific, and intimate knowledge of these laws is necessary for a successful defense of your case.

Domestic violence has become an unfortunate epidemic in our country today. The most common perpetrators of physical violence against a spouse or partner are men, but women have also been found guilty of this violent crime. New Jersey has enacted serious domestic violence crimes laws in an effort to punish the offenders and deter others from committing this horrible crime. However, not everyone accused of domestic violence is guilty.

Being accused of domestic violence can mean you are prohibited from returning to the scene of the incident, whether that is your home or your place of employment. You may also be barred from visitation with your children. In addition, the court can require you to undergo psychiatric counseling or other forms of treatment.

Stalking has recently been added to the Domestic Violence Act and is legally defined as:

A person is guilty of stalking, a crime of the fourth degree, if he purposely and repeatedly follows another person and engages in a course of conduct or makes a credible threat with the intent of annoying or placing that person in reasonable fear of death or bodily injury.

Personal Injury Questions

Friday, January 7th, 2011

In what types of circumstances may I need a personal injury lawyer?

Personal injury lawyers represent people who have been injured, or the families of people who have been killed due to someone else’s negligence or wrongdoing. Some examples of personal injury cases we see at the Law Offices of Anthony Carbone, P.C. include:

You will need a personal injury lawyer to help you fight to obtain monetary compensation to cover expenses related to your accident, injury, or wrongful death.

I don’t have a lot of money. How will I afford a personal injury attorney?

Personal injury attorneys work on a contingency basis, which means no money is collected from you at the beginning of the case, such as a retainer in a criminal case. Instead, if your personal injury attorney wins your case and you are awarded a financial settlement, then a pre-determined percentage of that settlement will go to the law firm to cover legal expenses.

If you live in Jersey City or Newark, New Jersey and are in need of a personal injury lawyer, please contact the Law Offices of Anthony Carbone, P.C. today to schedule a confidential, no-cost personal injury consultation.
